Family-Owned Ownership, Part of a National Network
CARSTAR Port Orchard is owned and operated by Murray's Collision Group, the same family that has been repairing collision damage across the Puget Sound region for more than 30 years. This location brings that ownership, and the standards that come with it, to Port Orchard, WA. We repair all makes and models. As part of the CARSTAR network, we operate as an independently owned facility while holding to standardized, professionally certified repair processes that are recognized across North America. That combination is intentional: local, family ownership means the people who greet you at the front counter are the same people accountable for the repair on your vehicle, while the CARSTAR affiliation means we're backed by consistent training standards, OEM procedure access, and a limited lifetime warranty honored at CARSTAR locations nationwide.
The family behind it is Murrays Collision Group. What began as a single shop is now six locations around the Puget Sound, four Fix Auto stores and two CARSTAR stores, and CARSTAR Port Orchard is one of them. Decisions about your repair are made here rather than at a distant regional office, and the same OEM-approved procedures and training requirements apply at every one of those locations.
Collision repair has changed considerably over the decades our owners have worked in it. Vehicles built today rely on high-strength steel, aluminum, and an increasing number of onboard sensors and cameras that have to be recalibrated correctly after a repair. Shops that treat repair as more than cosmetic work, and invest accordingly in equipment and ongoing training, are the ones best equipped to return a damaged vehicle to safe, pre-accident condition. That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every vehicle that comes through our doors.
Meet Kyle Murray
Owner, Murrays Collision Group
Kyle Murray owns the family business behind CARSTAR Port Orchard. Local ownership is not a line in the marketing here: the decisions about your repair are made by people who live and work in the Puget Sound, not passed up to a corporate office somewhere else.
Collision Repair in Port Orchard, WA
Our shop is a full-service collision facility, which means the whole repair happens under one roof rather than being split across subcontractors. Estimating, disassembly, structural and frame work on a computerized measuring system, body and panel repair, refinishing in a controlled paint booth with computerized color matching, ADAS sensor and camera recalibration, and final quality inspection all happen here. That matters more than it used to, because a modern repair is no longer a sequence of independent cosmetic steps. A bumper cover that also houses radar and parking sensors, a windshield that carries a forward-facing camera, or a quarter panel made of high-strength steel each have manufacturer procedures attached to them, and those procedures have to be followed in the right order by people who can see the whole job.
Being part of the CARSTAR network is the other half of it. CARSTAR is North America's largest network of independently owned collision repair facilities, and affiliation brings standardized repair processes, ongoing technician training requirements, OEM procedure access, and insurer relationships that a single independent shop would struggle to assemble alone. What it does not do is change who owns the shop or who is accountable for your repair. That stays local, which is the arrangement we want: national standards and national warranty coverage, decisions made by the people you can actually walk in and talk to.
Who We Serve
We repair vehicles for drivers throughout Port Orchard and the surrounding communities, including Bremerton, Gig Harbor, Silverdale, Bainbridge Island, and Poulsbo. Most of the work that comes through the door is ordinary and local: a commute that ended in a rear-end collision, a parking lot scrape, a deer on a back road, a hailstorm that dimpled a hood, a family SUV that has to be safe again before school starts back up. We are not a volume operation chasing storm work, and we are not going anywhere after the season ends.
That has a practical consequence for you. A warranty is only as good as the business standing behind it, and a shop that is still in the same building in five years is a shop that can honor one. When a customer comes back because something is not sitting right, they are talking to the same people who did the work. We would rather have that conversation than avoid it, because the alternative is a driver who never comes back and never says why.
We also want to be straightforward about what we will and will not tell you. If paintless dent repair will fix your panel, we will say so, even though a conventional repair bills more. If your damage is genuinely minor enough that your deductible makes a claim pointless, we will tell you that too. Washington state law gives you the right to choose your own repair shop regardless of what your insurer suggests, and we would rather earn that choice with a straight answer than win it with a hard sell.
